Bentazone provides excellent post-emergence control of many broadleaf weeds and sedges in rice, corn, and legumes. Its contact activity makes it valuable against smartweed, dayflower, and other difficult species.
Bentazone disrupts photosynthesis in susceptible plants by inhibiting electron transport. This biochemical action causes rapid chlorosis and desiccation of treated foliage.
The herbicide works best when applied during warm, sunny conditions to unstressed weeds. Cloudy weather or drought stress may reduce symptom development and overall efficacy.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective eyewear, and long-sleeved clothing during handling. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and follow all label instructions for safe use.
Store in original containers in a cool, dry place away from food and feed. Keep containers tightly sealed and protected from freezing temperatures.
